Mid-Career Interaction programmes (MCIP) between the Armed Forces and Civil Service Officers organized both by DoP&T and Ministry of Defence. Mid-Career interactions between Armed Forces and Civil Services Officers are being organized at the Central Training Institutes/State Administrative Training Institutes and Defence Institutions in various parts of the country with the objective to benefit both the Armed Forces and Civil Services Officers by way of mutual learning from each other’s strength and also by imbibing the best points of each other’s work culture, ethos and customs. This, in the long run, is expected to help the participating officers to combat future challenges to national security in a better manner. This concept is an outcome of discussions held between the Cabinet Secretary and the Chairman, Chief of the Staff Committee (COSC) regarding conduct of Mid-Career Interaction between the Armed Forces and Civil Service Officers. It emerged during the discussions that to increase exposure of IAS/IPS officers to the military, Mid- Career Interactions are to be organized between Armed Forces and Civil Services to meet unforeseen situations at short notice. It was thought that such interactions will benefit both the Armed Forces and Civil Service officers by mutual learning from each other’s strength. Also, such Interactions will give them an opportunity to imbibe the best points of each other’s work culture, ethos and customs. This, in the long run, will help them combat future challenges to national security in a better manner. As a follow up of discussions held between the Cabinet Secretary and the Chairman, Chief of the Staff Committee, it was decided to conduct joint courses at the tactical and operational levels for officers of Armed Forces and AIS officers i.e. IAS, IPS and IFoS officers in each of these interactions. The themes for the interactions are at operational and tactical levels. M/o Defence (HQ IDS) and DoP&T were nominated as the nodal agencies for coordination and conduct of the interactions. One each Mid-Career Interaction between the Armed Forces and Civil Service Officers is organized by DoP&T, Army, Navy & Air Force. |
