Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) is one of the five Long Term Domestic Programmes (LTDPs) conducted by Training Division, D/o Personnel & Training. PGPPM is aimed at improving efficiency, managerial and leadership skills among policy makers and administrators is a one year residential Post-Graduate Programme conducted at Centre for Public Policy (CPP), Indian Institute of Management- Bangalore. PGPPM was initiated in 2001 by the Centre for Public Policy (CPP) at IIMB. PGPPM offers a set of core – courses as well as a wide range of electives. It contains both domestic component and international component. The central focus of the programme shall be on public policy and management with an objective of connecting theory and concepts with practice to enable understanding of the contours of public policy/management. The course design shall, therefore, include Case Studies, Involvement of Public Policy Practitioners, Rural/NGO attachment, Ethos in Public Service, International Immersion etc., in the programme curriculum. The programme is meant for officers of All India Services, Central Services—organized & non-organized, technical & non-technical, faculty members of State Administrative Training Institutes and also for officers of the State Civil Services (SCS) & Non-State Civil Services (Non-SCS) and has been designed to be a high quality programme with a set of ‘Core Courses’ as well as a range of ‘Electives’. The selected officers will be required to complete the ‘Domestic component’ at IIMB as well as the ‘International component (about 2 weeks)’ at an International School during the duration of the programme. PGPPM plays a key role in the career development of the participating officers and instill skills with regard to Public Policy, Policy Analysis, Strategic Management, Financial Accounting, Operations Management, Public Economics and other relevant subjects. |
